Understanding the Keyword Research Process

Extracting Winning Keywords

Let me just show you first the way you can use Semrush. You can take any keyword from here, that keyword you go to Google with extension.
So now basically when you use it, you may find that a website’s DR score shows how much search traffic it gets.
Using DR and Traffic Metrics
If the DR score is lower, it means the website is where your opportunity matches.
Now that you searched for this keyword, find a website whose DR is low and search traffic is high — DR 5, 10, or 15, just no more.
The higher the traffic score, the better because there is your complete niche research. Keywords for complete research are done for you by someone; you just need to find that site.
Manual Research Method
One way I show you right now is how you use Semrush. I just showed you how to narrow down your niche keywords and then come one by one to find sites. This is a little manual process.
Exploring with Ahrefs
If you take the Ahrefs tool, go to Keyword Explorer. I’ll show you fun features of Ahrefs. You can select your country here — which country you want to rank in — and from here search “gaming chair.”
In matching terms, you will find 30,000 keywords. But what we need are websites that are working on “gaming chair” and have low DR — 5 or 10 DR websites in the top five results.
This means the keywords that have sites with DR less than that in the top five results. Keep only those keywords and apply filters. Add word count, set minimum to four words. Apply and show results.
Final Step
Now you have 186 keywords coming up. If you check those keywords in Google and find low DR websites, the whole research is done for you.
